ABOUT ELLA (EYA) SPORTS FOUNDATION
ELLA, the Spanish word for “Her,” is also the acronym for Empowering Leadership in Latina Athletes. ELLA (EYA) Sports Foundation was inspired by the adversities and inequalities Lilly Travieso experienced while seeking a sports scholarship. The teen experienced obstacles as a young woman and a young woman of color. Finally recruited by Cornell University, where she is currently a Senior athlete, Lilly wanted to make a difference and share with other girl athletes and their parents everything our family learned about navigating school sports. With the help of her mother, Lilly founded ELLA Sports Foundation to empower young women to become leaders of tomorrow through sports and academic excellent. ELLA wants to provide women and their families opportunities and resources to support them so they can succeed in life, and they can make their own legacy, like Lilly is doing.
