Lynchburg, Tenn. – Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, representing the finest tradition in distilled spirits since 1866, is proud to return as sponsor of the greatest living legends of Mexican music, the Vicente & Alejandro Fernandez “Lazos Invencibles – El Fin” tour in 14 U.S. cities.

This long-term association between the artists and Jack Daniel’s is bound together by their shared passion for tradición (tradition), keeping the flame of authenticity and legacy alive.  The 2002 nationwide tour has special meaning in that it marks the final time that these two titans of Mexican music will tour together under the “Lazos Invencibles” banner.  The Jack Daniel’s Family is proud of its long-standing association with the Fernandez Family and Vicente, who was recently named 2002 Person of the Year by the Latin Academy of Recording Arts (LARAS).

Jack Daniel’s is also highlighting its support by bestowing on Vicente and Alejandro Fernandez a special award, Premio Tradición Jack Daniel’s.  The award recognizes their formidable talents and their enormous contribution to the traditions of ranchera music and charro culture.  The award is a hand-crafted belt buckle wrought in gold and silver and will be presented at a private backstage ceremony.

The Jack Daniel’s Cantina

Jack Daniel’s will have an active role during the tour by establishing a Jack Daniel’s Cantina at each venue to be the focal point of its promotional support.  The Jack Daniel’s Cantina will serve as a gathering place for lovers of mariachi music, who will be able to participate in JD’s Open Mike Nights – A Grito Abierto, where music aficionados will get a chance to sing their favorite Vicente and Alejandro Fernandez songs (in select concert tour dates only).  Jack Daniel’s Cantina will also feature games such as cubilete as well as other promotions.

Jack Daniel’s Hispanic Community Outreach

In some cities, Jack Daniel’s will also team up with local Hispanic non-profit organizations and publications to host VIP receptions for celebrities and local leaders, with a focus on showcasing Latino culture and traditions.  As a way to say “Thank You” to a community that values family and tradition, Jack Daniel’s will donate an acoustic guitar autographed by Vicente Fernandez to every one of its local non-profit partners.

Vicente and Alejandro Fernandez Meet ‘N Greets

In every city, lucky winners will get to go backstage and meet Vicente and Alejandro Fernandez.  The fans will shake hands and pose for keepsake photographs with the stars.  Details will be announced in each city prior to the concert.  Jack Daniel’s will also undertake various radio promotions and giveaways, to be announced.

Vicente Fernandez, a native of Jalisco, has been the undisputed king of traditional Mexican ranchera music since his recording of the standard “Volver Volver” in the 1970’s.   During his 30-year career, he has recorded more than 60 albums, had dozens of hit singles, starred in movies, received five Grammy nominations, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 

Alejandro is the youngest of three Fernandez sons who has followed in his father’s footsteps and has become an international singing sensation.  His first recording with his father was an immediate success, and he followed up with a solo on his father’s next album at the age of 19.  He recorded his first album two years later, which was hailed for rejuvenating the ranchera music genre.  His most recent albums have broadened his musical horizons with a shift to romantic ballads and songs closer to pop, yet maintaining a strong Mexican influence.  Several tracks from his latest release, “Me Estoy Enamorando” (I’m Falling in Love) have reached the top of the charts and the album has gone multi-platinum, winning a Grammy.
